Frequently asked questions

How do I enrol?

At the bottom of of each of our listed courses, click “Enrol Now”, and select which course you would like to book. You will be prompted to complete our online enrolment form, and once submitted, you are enrolled! We would then send you through an invoice after reviewing your CTF details.

If the scheduled dates work for you, just reach out to us and we can schedule another course in. If a course you are wanting to book isn’t listed, just let us know, and we will arrange to run one.

Will my tickets expire?

Your mobile plant tickets and skills tickets do not have an expiry, however every few years the unit may be updated. For example, RIIMPO320F would become RIIMPO320G. This wouldn’t necessarily mean your ticket is expired, however, some employers may require you to have the updated unit.

For working at heights, confined spaces and gas testing, although your ticket may not be expired, employers often require a refresher course to be done every two years.

For high-risk licences, these need to be renewed every 5 years. You don’t necessarily need to do the course again (although it is a good idea to do a refresher course if you haven’t operated in a while), but like your driver’s licence, you need to pay the renewal fee, or it is no longer a valid licence.

What is a USI & how do I get mine?

A USI is your Unique Student Identifier. If you have done any Nationally Accredited course through an RTO or Tafe from 2015, you will have a USI. Every course you do is linked to your USI, so there is always a record you can easily access.

If you don’t know your USI, you can go to the Forgot my USI page to locate it. Alternatively, you can provide us with your city of birth when enrolling, and we can locate it for you.

If you do not have a USI, you can easily create one through the Get my USI page. We can also create one on your behalf, please let us know if you would like us to do this when enrolling.

Can you do on-site training?

Absolutely! If you are looking to book on-site training, please contact us letting us know which course/s you require, how many students you have, and the site location. From there, we can provide a quote and availability.

What do I wear and do I need to bring anything on the day?

On the day, you will need to wear long pants and shirt and steel cap boots. Hard hats and vests will be provided when required.

You will need to bring your own lunch, refrigerator and microwave facilities are available. We also provide tea, coffee and water, however students are encouraged to bring their own water bottle.

When will I get my Statement of Attainment?

RTO’s are required to issue your SOA within 30 days. However, if training is done at our site, we aim to have your SOA ready for you on the day. If that’s not the case, we will post your SOA out to you within 14 days, and email you a scanned copy in the meantime.

If there are any issues with your enrolment or USI, this may be delayed.

Where are you located?

Our training yard is at 33 North Jindong Road in Carbunup, which is located just south of Vasse/Busselton, heading towards Margaret River. We are in Google and Apple maps as Cape Training & Assessing, so we are super easy to find!

What is the CTF subsidy?

The Construction Training Fund is a WA government organisation which subsidises training for those working in the civil construction industry.

We are CTF bulk billers, so students who qualify when booking will have the rebate applied to their invoice, reducing their course cost.

I am wanting to get into the construction or mining industries, which tickets should I get?

You will firstly need your white card for any civil/mining jobs!

If you are looking to get into the civil construction industry, great tickets to start with are roller, watercart and/or articulated haul truck. These machines are not too involved, and are great for new operators to start on. From there, skid steer, front end loader and excavator tickets are also great ones to get.

If you are trying to get into the mining industry, you will generally need your working at heights, confined space entry and gas testing tickets. Regarding machinery tickets, it is very dependant on the job, however haul trucks, front end loaders and excavators are machines commonly used on mine sites.
